The Black Country Matters event

Business leaders and public sector bosses will hear how the Black Country has "risen to the challengeā€ when they come together to review the region's performance over the last year.

The Black Country Consortium's annual Symposium, this year called The Black Country Matters, will be held on Friday (February 24) at The Copthorne Hotel in Brierley Hill.

The report will highlight successes and areas for improvement in relation to the Black Country's performance in a year that witnessed great change and additional responsibility for the area. It will also report progress to date of the Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership, which recently marked its first anniversary.

The document will feature the region's performance over the last 12 months and also update the leading lights in the world of Black Country business and local government in relation to how the region is performing in relation to long-term targets for 2033.

These include regenerating the economy and raising education and skills in the area. And it also reports on the success of the Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership, which has replaced the work of regional development agencies. The document highlights the success of attracting an enterprise zone to the area, as well as bringing in millions of pounds of investment through various government funding pots.

For more information call the Black Country Consortium on 08458 151515.
